Week 2 homework: Carving toe to heel edge drill

Carving your skateboard is the most important skill after pushing it.

You can build your balance for carving at home, on the carpet. Stand on your board in your riding stance. Toes and heels over the wheels (nice rhyme right?).

Lean on the toe edge and hold it, try and exert as much pressure as possible without falling over. After 5 seconds switch to the heel edge. Do the same. Switch back to toes.

This exercise will build your familiarity with the feel of your trucks. Spend 5 minutes doing this each day.

Build truck ‘feel’

We often talk about board feel. This is, how you feel the shape of your board under your feet. Well, truck ‘feel’ is just as important, if not more so for beginners. Doing this exercise every day is going to build your familiarity with the feel of your trucks.
