Last week we ran a team building event for corporate co-workers in London who wanted to do something different. When bouncing around ideas for an away day, one of our existing customers put forward the idea of doing a skateboarding lesson. The idea was well received and when we were contacted we were happy to oblige.
Our East London skate coaches Soren & Leo ran the lesson at Lloyd Park skatepark in Walthamstow E17. We had 12 adults, who were nearly all beginner skateboarders, join a one hour lesson followed by one hour free skate.
We provided skateboards and safety equipment, getting the team padded up and adjusted the boards appropriately. We then started working on the relatively safe flat ground area of the basketball court, working on stances and pushing, before moving onto the pump bump of the skatepark and beyond.
Team building event with Skateboards
Doing a skateboard lesson is great idea for team building away days.
We ran some exercises where participants worked with a partner and they relied on each other for moral and physical support.
We ran skate ‘games’ which are just as much fun for adults as for kids. Learning a new skill, and laughing, with each other is great way for a team to bond.
Skateboarding corporate event options
As well as the frequent Birthday parties, in the past we have also run a skateboard lesson for a hen party, and festivals & events for local authorities. We can run skateboarding events at skateparks or can bring obstacles to your location. If you have a corporate event coming up, please give us a shout and we can talk you through the options.
